Project Description
It was my honor of contributing/volunteering to the cystic fibrosis fundraiser “Rockin’ A Cure 7.” I interviewed and my dad videotaped the interviews of the youth celebrity guest musicians/performers, the host Christina (CEO of the Christina Davidson Foundation, (https://www.facebook.com/ChristinaDavidsonofficial/?fref=ts) who herself has cystic fibrosis) and the sponsor Tony Smith. Here is a link to the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1f1kjy1jeWA. That day I learned a lot about cystic fibrosis like the horrible breathing symptoms, limited life expectancy of just 25 years, no government funding and that there is NO cure. While I’m glad I could participate in this “Rockin’ A Cure” fundraise for the fight against cystic fibrosis I am most sad to report that just seven months after this important event the sponsor’s 17 year old daughter, Cheyenne Smith died from cystic fibrosis. I feel so fortunate that I had an opportunity to meet and interview this beautiful young person and to participate in something so very important. Prior to this event I did not know anything about cystic fibrosis. This is just one of the reasons why it is indeed very important to be involved in helping all we can and to take nothing for granted. It is also important because the very cause we volunteer and get involved in maybe one that can help our friends, families, our children and maybe even ourselves. It also teaches us that all the money in fix world problems and the hearts of people. However, coming together, being involved and raising a voice in the world does change the way the world is and I have seen heal hearts when all hope seems lost. Sometimes just letting others know that someone cares, a smile, a hug, a loving laugh is the greatest medicine and gift we can give. I hope to continue to do all I can in my lifetime to be involved with important causes and events like this that help not only raise money and awareness but also help heal hearts. This is why I am committed to helping others in need and this world that also needs and deserves our love and care.
