For the event, the Fir Ridge High School Youth Volunteer Club organized a holiday party with the Portland State University Students with Children group. Students families were invited to bring their children to the on-campus event, where each child could pick out a toy. After making a toy selection, children and families were invited to partake in a high school student volunteer led arts and craft service project, decorating holiday themed placemats to be donated to the Oregon Food Bank. Hot cocoa, cookies, and non-perishable food donation items were available to all as well. The event was well received. 36 families, for a total of 44 adults and 72 children, attended the event. 14 High School volunteers participated in organizing and running the event.
